Follow the traces of the flooded villages forever buried by the waters of Liptovská Mara
Reservoir. This themed cycling route offers interesting details about the water work that
significantly affected the lives of thousands and permanently changed the face and
development of the whole region. The route starts in the Bešeňová village, continues through
Vlašky, along the wall of the dam, around the church tower by the Liptovská Mara, through
the settlement of Tvarožná, around the lookout point of Kyseľovec and finishes in the village
of Bobrovník. The route contains a couple of steep ascents; therefore, it is recommended to
use electric bikes. Visit the mini open-air folk museum of the flooded villages located in the
village of Liptovská Sielnica. You will learn valuable information about other vanished villages
that are not a part of this cycling route.
