The Žilina Dam – Terchová Cycle Highway is an easy and safe route suitable for families
with children. It starts at the Žilina Dam, a popular spot for recreation and sports, offering
facilities not only for cyclists. The route from the Žilina Dam through the village of Varín to
Terchová follows the Varínka Brook. The brook is equipped with a unique system of 17
wooden bridges. The only steep sections on this route are the climbs to the bridges. Reward
yourself for the kilometres pedaled with a panoramic view of the Malá Fatra Mountains, the
beautiful natural sights of Krasniansky luh (Krasňany Riparian Forest), or ice cream in the
village of Stráža. The cycle highway connects to a network of mountain cycling routes in the
areas around the Malá Fatra Mountains, Žilina, and Kysuce.
