The Ostredok Lookout Tower is located just a few minutes’ walk from the parking lot in Biela
púť in Jasná. The starting point is marked by a signpost visible from the parking lot. The easy
hiking trail is marked with yellow waymarks. At 7 metres high, the tower offers views of
Chopok and panoramic vistas of the Low Tatras and almost the entire Demänová Valley.
There is a picnic table and benches below the lookout tower.
The hiking trail continues to the symbolic cemetery of the Low Tatras Victims and further to
the Demänová Cave of Freedom (Demänovská jaskyňa slobody). The chapel in the symbolic
cemetery has memorial plaques bearing the names of those who lost their lives in the Low
Tatras. There is also a sculpture called “Mountain Pietà”, which symbolizes a mother’s grief
over the loss of her child. Inside the cemetery, there is the Slovak coat of arms and a bell
cast by artists from Liptovský Mikuláš, as well as a monumental six-metre tall wooden cross
carved by a woodcarver from the village of Kriváň.
