Súľov Rocks

Upper Povazie

About 10 km from Bytča lies one of the most famous rock formations of Slovakia – the Súľov
Rocks National Nature Reserve, which is part of the Strážov Mountains Protected Landscape
Area. The area is unique for its rocky landscape and bizarre formations, which often leave
visitors amazed at what nature has sculpted from the rocks. The Súľov Rocks educational
trail is the most popular trail in the Súľov Mountains. Along the trail, you will find attractions
such as the Gothic Gate, beautiful views of the surrounding valleys and the ruins of Súľov
Castle.
Useful information
On weekends during the summer season and on public holidays, Súľov Rocks attract a
significant number of visitors. If you want to enjoy the views without crowds, we recommend
visiting during weekdays.
How to get there?
The starting point to Súľov Rocks are the villages of Súľov–Hradná, Hričovské Podhradie,
Hlboké nad Váhom, Hrabové and Jablonové. The most popular route leads along the
educational trail from Súľov to Súľov Castle.
The educational trail can be accessed from both directions, but the most beautiful route is to
follow the green trail from the car park beneath the rocks, and then take the red trail down
through Lúka pod hradom. Most of the attractions and views are accessible from the green
trail between the parking lot and the castle, and discovering them one by one makes the
climb more enjoyable. Some sections of the trail are secured with chains.
Parking
There is a paid parking lot on the main road at the beginning of the educational trail through
Súľov Rocks.
