The village of Klin, where the lookout tower is located, is best known for its unique statue of
Christ on Grapa Hill. The statue of the Saviour and his hands point to the entire Orava
region, which he protects. The monument is a replica of the famous Brazilian statue in Rio de
Janeiro, and is the third such statue in the world. It is 9.5 m high and weighs 23 tons. A
three-metre-high wooden lookout tower stands on the opposite side of the village, near the
Klinské rašelinisko National Nature Reserve. Klinské rašelinisko (literally 'the Klin Peat Bog')
is the oldest protected area designated for the preservation of rare peat bog communities in
the Orava region. This area represents a non-forest type of highland. From the lookout tower,
you can enjoy views of the peat bog, Námestovo, Babia hora, and Kmeťovka Hill. The
lookout tower forms part of the educational trail, 'Forest Transformations', and can be
reached by taking an easy walk along an asphalt path from the primary school.
