Lookout Tower on Marťák Hill

Kysuce

The lookout tower on Marťák Hill (Marťákov kopec) (854 m above sea level) was built above
the settlement of Petránky v Zákopčí in the autumn of 2011. The 14-metre-high tower is
made of traditional natural materials: stone and wood.
The lookout tower is located on the Javorník ridge. You can reach it by following the red
tourist trail from Čadca or the blue trail from Zákopčie and Kysucké Nové Mesto. From
Ochodnica, take the green route to Chotár Hill (Chotárny kopec), where you will join the red-
marked ridge trail.
We recommend starting from Zákopčie towards the settlement of U Trnkov and continuing
along the blue trail to Petránky. From there, follow the red trail to reach the lookout tower.
Once in the U Trnkov settlement, it is possible to shorten the journey by taking an unmarked
path. At the crossroads leading to the lookout tower, take the right-hand path.
It is also possible to have a barbecue at the lookout tower.
