Šútovo Waterfall

Turiec

Šútovo Waterfall (Šútovský vodopád) is one of the most beautiful Slovak waterfalls. The fourth highest waterfall in Slovakia and the highest in the Malá Fatra can be admired after an easy four-kilometre walk from the village of Šútovo. The water falling from a height of 38 m creates a pleasant “shower” around it and an interesting ice decoration in winter.
The waterfall is created by the water of the Šútovo Stream (Šútovský potok), which springs from an unusual place in the middle of virgin nature called Moses’ Springs. Water flowing from the rocky face on the southwestern slope of Hromové Mountain (literally “Thundering Mountain”) recalls the biblical story of Moses, when he struck a rock in the desert and water began to flow from it. The place received its name from this legend.

How to get there?
The blue hiking trail will take you to the waterfall from the village of Šútovo in approximately 1.5 hours, along Šútovo Valley, where you can see information boards of the educational trail.
More experienced hikers can continue from the waterfall along the steep path up to Moses’ Springs (1,140 m above sea level) and from there to the cottage below Chleb Mountain and the main ridge of the Malá Fatra.
