Tábor Lookout Tower

Kysuce

With an altitude of 697 m above sea level, Tábor Hill is the dominant feature of Kysucké
Nové Mesto. The name of the hill (literally “encampment”) comes from the fact that it was
settled by Hussites in the distant past. Since 2015, a massive, 14-metre-high, four-storey
wooden lookout tower has stood on its summit. It offers beautiful views of Steny, Poľana,
Ostré, Vreteň, Kysuce Gate (Kysucká brána), the Malá Fatra Mountains and part of the
Western Tatras.
You can reach it from the Kysucké Nové Mesto railway station by following the blue hiking
trail. Alternatively, you can take the “Stations of the Cross” to the summit. It is also accessible
via the green hiking trail from Ochodnica (2 hours) and Nesluša (1.5 hours).
