The route to Kremnica begins near the Vrútky Municipal Office. Start along the cycling path
following the Turiec River all the way to its confluence with the Váh River, then continue
along the canal through Lipovec to Sučany, to the area of Hrabiny. Then leave the river and
continue through the foothills of the Veľká Fatra Mountains. Make the first stop in Turčianska
Štiavnička dominated by the reconstructed Chateau Révay with its English park and many
sights to explore. Soon you will pass below the Sklabiňa Castle, and the views from the
Heroes of the SNP Trail can be enhanced by visiting three lookout towers along the way: Na
Tŕni, Na Kalniku, and Na Brotnici. Ascents and descents are frequent on the Turčianska
Cycling Highway. The road levels out behind Mošovce, and from Turčianske Teplice to
Horná Štubňa, you can enjoy almost flat terrain. Don’t forget to turn left at the end of the
village near the cross. This is where the road cycling ends, and you enter a pleasant forest
terrain. A slightly rolling gravel road will lead you to Turček. At this point, you have covered
75 km, with roughly 13 km remaining. The cycling route continues along the forest road
through the Krahuľská dolina (Krahule Valley) to Krahule. Here you will briefly join the
Barbara's route – an almost 200 km long circuit with 29 recommended stops mainly linked to
mining and history. However, you will almost effortlessly glide down to Kremnica and enjoy a
long descent to the historic center.
