On the very edge of the foothill village of Veľké Borové, on the boundary between Liptov and
Orava, you will find a beautiful brick tower with a wooden roof and a gallery. Although it looks
historic, this building is actually a transformer station that has been rebuilt in the style of
traditional folk architecture. Its gallery offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains –
Roháče, Skorušina Hills (Skorušinské vrchy), Choč Mountains (Chočské vrchy), and the
Orava Uplands (Oravská pahorkatina). There is a hunting room in the tower.
After visiting the lookout tower, you can access the popular educational trail at the southern
end of Veľké Borové. This trail will lead you through the Prosiek and Kvačany valleys
(Prosiecka a Kvačianska dolina), where you can see historic wooden water mills, cascades,
waterfalls and karst formations.
